Well the new site seems to be running like a dream. We had a few bugs that were fixed, thank you to those of you that brought them to my attention. I am now focusing on even more important things – new fly patterns.
We have stopped tying flies on the old hooks, as they were not strong enough for New Zealand conditions. Fine for the USA and Europe, but when you had a 6lb rainbow shooting up the TT or a similar brown tearing down the Sabine, you need the strongest hook you can get. All new flies are tied on Daiichi hooks. This has put the price up very slightly, but the quality is fantastic. The tempering is just right. You can knock them on the rocks without shattering and they are not going to straighten with a 16lb tug from a monster.
So, what flies would you like to see on our site? I have had a few suggestions of late - Boobies, Kilwell No1 and 2, Lumo flies, CDC Emerges, Double Beaded Stone flies and more. However I would like all of you to give your expert opinions.
I have listed patterns below. Please let me know what your favourite 10 are. Just click here and list them. If there is a fly not on my list and you think it should be - let me know. At the end of June I will publish the results and the person with the closest favourite 10 to the chosen 10 will win 50 flies of their choice. You must register to win (top right of the site).
